Integrate graphics with text artistically, to develop a remarkable graphic design, it should find out ways to combine images with a message. Photoshop offers the adaptability to blend as well as match pictures with a message to produce the preferred impact. Likewise, pictures can be boosted by tweaking lighting, contrast as well as sharpness

Week 2_LECTURES_Introduction of Lasso Tool, Pen Tool & Layering.

1. Selection, Layering.

2. Tool Box
Photoshop provides several tool sets in the Toolbox, and you can expand the tool sets to reveal additional tools.

3. Marquee Selection Tools.
Select and Mask

4. Lasso Tool

The Lasso tool allows you to draw and pinpoint specific areas of a document. If you like drawing with pencil and paper or cutting and pasting objects from a photo, then you will love the Lasso Tool.

5. How to use the Lasso Tool
When you click on the lasso Tool from the Toolbar, you will see three different tool options; Lasso, Polygonal Lasso, and Magnetic Lasso.

The Lasso Tool is great to use with a graphic label because it is similar to a pencil. Unlikely a mouse or trackpad, a graphic tablet can provide a better flow when. drawing and making selections.

6. Pen Tool
Create a path from scratch, the pen tool is the most common option. The pen tool is the way that you add these points and the way you drag the tool as you create the points determines how they will look.
the fewer points, the smoother a pat will be.

6.1, Variation of Pen Tool

7. Lasso Tool VS Pen Tool
A pen tool is a versatile tool in Photoshop that can be used to create extremely precise shapes and paths, using manually placed anchor points. Although commonly used to make selections, the pen tool was not natively made as a "selection tool".

8. Layering
Layers are different images stacked on top of each other. You can use each layer without affecting another one to make adjustments. Together they form one final image. It could look something like this in real life.
The advantage of using Layers is that you can save a Photoshop file with all the layers included. This means you can use layers included. This means that you can use layers for non-destructive editing.
The adjustment in Photoshop will never destroy the original image.

Week 3_ Lecture 3_Blending Mode & Reflection

The 5 Photoshop Blend Modes NEED To Know
For week 3, we will be learning about the five most important blending modes which are Multiply, Screen, Overlay, Colour and Luminosity, Although there are 22 other modes, nevertheless, these 5 modes are often used. The Multiply Blend mode darkens images, the Screen Blend mode lightens them, and the Overlay Blend mode increases contrast. The Colour Blend mode blends only the colour of a layer, and Luminosity Blends only the brightness!

Blend modes in Photoshop offer different ways for a layer to blend, or interact, with the layers below it. Without blend modes, the only way to blend layers is by lowering a layer's opacity, which doesn't produce very interesting results.

Blend Mode option GREYED out
The Blend Mode option, in the layers panel, is currently greyed out.

Noticing that the Blend Mode option is greyed out, this is at the moment the document contains only one layer, the background layer. Photoshop does not allow us to use blend modes with the background layer, so the Blend Mode option is currently unavailable.

Making a copy of the Background layer

To fix that, we will need to make a copy of the Background layer by dragging it down onto the New Layer icon at the bottom of the Layers panel:

The Blend Mode option is now visible

And now that we have a second layer above the Background layer, the Blend Mode option is now visible.

Week 4_Lecture 4 _ Colouring

Quick Selection Tool
On week 4, we learned about the Quick Selection Tool, we select the quick selection tool in the Tools panel, then add a checkmark to the Auto-Enhance option in the Options bar. Click and drag over an area that we wanted to select, the tool automatically selects similar tones and stops when it finds image edges.

Add to the selection
To add to the initial selection, just click abnd drag over another area. The Quick Selection tool automatically changes to the Add to selection option.

Subbtract from the selection
To subtract from the initial selection, press the Option key(MacOS) as you select an area that you want to rmove from the selection. When you release the Option, the Quick Selection Tool switches back to its Add to selection option.

WEEK 1: PROJECT A (PHYSICAL COLLAGE)

Gathering of Materials

Figure 1.1, 1.2 Fashion magazines, Week 2 (9,9.2022)
I don't own a lot of magazines at home but fortunately, I found a magazine and the content is mostly focused on fashion brands, cosmetics, food and celebrities. While I was exploring the magazine I decided that I can have 3 different themes than just all the same theme and different compositions.

Pre-composition #1
Fashion Brand
Figure 1.3, Composition #1, (Week 2, 9.9.2022)
This is the first attempt of my first composition, the idea is that present all different kinds of brands and kinda tags on the model, these brands are well-known. I came up with a position which is more centralized where the model figure and the brands are all in the centre. I wanted the collage to have a well-balanced space, the colour is more neutral, and the collage is more a bit of a focal point (Word and Image). I am confident in this collage as I feel that the collage is easy to understand.

Pre-composition #2
'Food or Body'

Figure 1.4, Composition #2 (week 2, 9.9.2022)
This is the second attempt at my second composition, as the content of the magazine has like foods and models, so I have an idea to present a collage where models and food are both on different sides, a very stereotype of models is that they don't eat much or if they did it will be just salad, and now people want to have the body of the models but could not give up on food. Thus, the idea is you either want food or the body. The layout is to show a balanced on both sides and how different each side.

Pre-composition #3
'Art'
Figure 1.5, Composition #3 (week 2, 9.9.2022)
This is my third composition, and the idea is to present art at the art gallery, Actually, I'm not happy with the layout because I feel it's too much and the pieces are too overall the places. Hence, I decide not to pick this composition.

FINAL PHYSICAL COLLAGE

WEEK 2: PROJECT A (DIGITAL COLLAGE)

Digital Collage #1

Figure 1.7, Digital Collage #1 (week 3, 15.9.2022)
In my first attempt for digital collage #1, the idea was like everything is floating in the sky, and the 'Big Fencer' as if he is holding the 'TV', and the 'Men' position is like 'he is watching a show, and for the 'Sharks' are like because generally sharks live in the sea but now they are at the 'sky' which also explain why they need the epee mask 'to breath'. And the 'Train' is like the cross line of it.

Digital Collage #2

Figure 1.8, Digital Collage#2 (week 3, 15.9.2022)
The idea for Digital collage#2 is like the people using the paper plane to travel to other space, even the 'car'. The background is in black to represent that they are in 'Space'.

Digital Collage #3

Figure 1.9, Digital Collage#3, (week 3, 15.9.2022)
The idea for digital collage #3 is like the sharks are 'vegetarian' eating leaves and the 'Fencer' is like picking up more leaves for them to eat.

Digital Collage #4
Figure 1.10, Digital Collage#4, (week 4, 22.9.2022)

I tried ways to make it more 'interesting', so first I apply 'curve' on all the characters; the Men on the right side, the Big Fencer on top of the train, the Small Fencer at the bottom, the Medium and Small size Shark, the Car and the Tv the idea is to make my characters look dim, and I apply 'exposure' on the train as to highlight the train itself (main)

Week 3_Project 1 _Reflection

In Week 3, we are assigned to try on the 'Shazam' exercise, and after fully know on how to create a reflection, then we need to use our own picture with a full body and create our own reflection.

figure 2.1  (week 3, 17.9.2022)

the feedback given by Mr Martin is that the size of the portrait is too big, and should adjust to the size same as the 'people' on the left.

Week 4 _ Project 1 _ Colouring

I picked this picture to coloured. The previous image is in black and white and we are assigned to use Photoshop to recoloured it.

Before
figure 3.1, before applying the colour effect

Hence, in total, I have used 9 layers to complete the 'Colouring'

FEEDBACK

Week 2: Pre-composition #1 'Fashion Brands' are creative when looking at it and can understand the theme right away. Pre-composition #2 the idea is good as attempting to present an idea into a collage. Pre-composition #3 the contrast is there, however, the pieces are too all over the place so it's hard to catch which part is the main point. Mr Martin advised that composition #1 is better.

Week 3: This is a Public Holiday, hence no feedback is given.

Week 4: For the digital collage #1 is interesting as if the old man is watching the inner side of the retro Tv and the fencer and snake are floating in the sky. Digital collage #2 is very creative like the paper plane and people standing on top of it like flying to another space. Digital collage #3 is also funny, as the sharks are like vegetarian sharks because they eat the leaf. Can go for digital collage #1, but can try to play around with the colouring.

Week 5: For the digital collage #4 the contrast is too much, and it is like the background is overexposed and the characters are too dim. The Man is standing too straight if can try to adjust a bit the position.

REFLECTION

Personally, before the class begin, I thought that  Digital Photography and Imaging is a module that allows. us to learn photography, however a small surprise we will be using Photoshop to edit the photos, although the outcome is different from what I imagine it does sound quite interesting as well

Throughout the 6 weeks, I feel that Digital Photography and Imaging is not only just taking photos from their cameras or any device, but also can readjust the small details like the lighting or can add some element to make our design visually more interesting. I think one of my favourite exercises is 'Colouring' as I feel that it is our decision to apply what type of colour we want and to present to our audience what are the characteristics of that person.

My second favourite exercise is 'Digital Collage', which is exceptionally convenient for people who are not familiar with drawing, and the tools of digital collage allow them to express their ideas in a most visual way. Moreover, I like the idea of putting images that seem oddly by individually nevertheless once they are combined together, it brings an impactful design.
