Week 2 _ Shooting Practise, Shoot & Editing 

Requirements: 

  • Low-angle Wide shot 
  • Frontal MCU (soft background)
  • Frontal MS (soft background)
  • Extreme Close-Up shot 
  • Side angle MS (soft background)
  • 3/4 angling MCU shot (with blurry/ soft foreground) 
  • Close-Up shot 
  • Eye-Level Medium- Wide shot 


Instructions: 

Capture a wide shot using a wide-angle lens. For the remaining shots, zoom in to achieve a blurred background effect. Look at the given examples or search for references on Google to find examples of well-composed pictures. Make sure to avoid overexposure or underexposure, ensuring the lighting is neither too bright nor too dark. Shoot the footage during daylight hours. Record the video in landscape format, with each shot lasting 5 seconds. When editing, include captions that indicate the shot size and export the final video for submission.

The task involves the following requirements:

  • Modify the start and end points of each provided clip according to the instructions given below.
  • Combine the clips and incorporate the provided text message graphics.
  • Ensure that the final edited clip has a duration of precisely 35 seconds.

Week 4_Colour Correction

Week 4: Color Correction:

Apply colour grading to our dancing video as follows:

  • First wide shot: Apply a teal and orange colour scheme.
  • Three single shots: Apply a bluish tone (cool), a greenish tone (cool), and a brownish tone (warm).
  • Medium shot: Keep it neutral after adjusting the white balance and balancing the RGB channels.
  • Medium close-up: Keep it neutral with a desaturation of 50%-70%.
  • Close-up and extreme close-up: Convert to black and white with high contrast.
  • End shot wide shot: Keep it neutral while increasing the saturation by 120%.

REFLECTION

Experience 
As a design student, I got the opportunity to participate in a variety of video editing and narrative tasks. assignments included organising video clips in Adobe Premiere Pro, practising framing and storyboarding, filming exercises to improve composition, and working on specific editing assignments. Participating in these projects gave me valuable hands-on experience, developed my talents, and broadened my outlook as a potential graphic designer.

Observations
These exercises provided me with valuable insights into the world of video editing and sound shaping. Through hands-on experience, I became familiar with importing and organizing video footage within Adobe Premiere Pro. I also developed a deeper understanding of the significance of shot composition and storytelling techniques, realizing the impact they have on conveying a narrative effectively. Additionally, I learned the importance of capturing visually appealing shots that enhance the overall quality of a video. Moreover, these modules allowed me to explore the implementation of text message graphics and the synchronization of visuals to create a cohesive and polished edited video. Overall, this comprehensive exploration of video and sound editing has expanded my knowledge and skill set, equipping me with a solid foundation in these critical aspects of multimedia production.

Findings 
I found this module to be enjoyable and fun, as it allowed me to explore my creativity and passion for video editing. It was exciting to develop proficiency in using Adobe Premiere Pro and witness the transformation of raw footage into a cohesive and visually appealing video. I particularly enjoyed the challenges presented in ensuring smooth transitions between video clips and maintaining a consistent visual style throughout the project. Balancing creativity with the specific requirements of each assignment was also a rewarding experience.

These projects not only helped me strengthen my skills as a design student and future Graphic designer but also provided valuable hands-on experience in video editing, storytelling, and visual composition. Through these exercises, I learned the significance of attention to detail, effective communication through visuals, and the art of crafting engaging and cohesive narratives. The enjoyment I found in this module further motivates me to continue developing my skills in visual communication and storytelling, as they are crucial for creating compelling user experiences.
