Project 2 _ Kinetic Typography (A)

1. Song Selection
On week 2, we had a group discussion and we select 5 songs to choose for our kinetic typography: 
1) Golden Hour
2) Heat Waves
3) Cheap Thrills 
4) Dance Monkey
5) Hey Mama 

And out of the majority, the one with more votes was Golden Hour by JVKE

2. Art Direction & Moodboard
Throughout our group discussion, we decided to go for a vintage aesthetic vibe that is more fits with the song, and also complements the cover art of the song.

3. Line Distribution
We get our part by using a randomiser to distribute the parts of the lyrics.

The type of chart that we are assigned was randomised and for my part, I got D: Line graph.

We followed the tutorial from Mr Martin, it was easy and straightforward, we were to learn the step by following the tutorial:

1. Fill Options > None 
2. Stoke Options > Solid Colour
3. Stroke Colour Option > Select Colour
4. Show Proportional Grid.
5. Draw the Line Graph.
6. Add Trim Paths.
7. Add 2 keyframes & Easy ease: Trim Paths 1 > End > 0% & 100% 
8. Repeat the process (Draw a few more lines)
9. Final Animation.

FEEDBACK
General Feedback: The video looks nice, and the font and colour combination it fit the song. 

Specific Feedback: Ensure that everyone's added the motion blur to make it more unified as some did add the motion blur but some didn't. The last part of the music since it's just the instruments hence may delete the last part and can add the video from the starter to the end of the video. 
REFLECTION
It was my first time encountering kinetic typography for a song, I like the song selection Golden Hour by JVKE it's everyone's favourite and it has a lot of potential ways to portray it. Overall it was a refreshing experience, although it requires lots of work and I realised it was not a easy task as I thought it might be. Luckily, we do not need to create a font for this song if not it will such a heavy task. Just my chores part, it kinda took around 14 hours to complete, not to mention the difficult part of the creation of my own part. 

We had a few meetings to discuss the font, art direction, and colour palette, art direction and most important we need to be fair and square about the parts. We used a randomiser which is more fair and random so this part was easy and comfortable as everyone is agree about it and all satisfied our own parts. From the beginning to the end, the conversations were always light and easy, everyone is free to talk about their opinions and there wasn't a  moment of quarrel which is peaceful most importantly everyone completed their own parts on time.
